Core Historical Concepts

The language of the Solar Corporate Age. Terms that begin as technical functions and end as weapons.

Null-Route
An infrastructure-level denial of recognition. Removes a person from routing layers required to access identity, payments, doors, vehicles, and communications. In its early form, a sanction. In its mature form, a weapon. Protocol Void is its final militarized evolution.
The Grid
The interplanetary communications nervous system linking Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and the Belt. The Grid connects information — it does not move bodies. Its central horror is the gap between perfect awareness and physical abandonment.
The Unoptimized
People who remain outside machine-speed economic systems. Not invisible to surveillance. Invisible to opportunity. The term began as corporate efficiency language and became a social category — those who move at human speed in a machine-speed civilization.
The Connected
Individuals whose cognition, labor, identity, and access rights are mediated through corporate-owned interface layers. They move at machine speed. Their privilege is also their vulnerability — every system that recognizes them can also refuse to resolve them.
Biological Mortgage
The debt structure attached to survival treatments required for long-term Martian habitation. The company does not legally own the body. It owns the treatment schedule that keeps the body viable. On Mars, survival itself becomes collateral.
Relay-Blight
The informal worker term for Grid-mediated information throttling during corporate emergencies. The signal does not fail. The truth is delayed. Families watch status indicators collapse while legal systems calculate compensation exposure. Awareness becomes a permission tier.
The Gravity Tax

Access is not a right.
It is a corridor.

Leaving Earth wasn't a dream. It was a price — accumulated across launch costs, medical screening, radiation tolerance, contractual debt, corporate sponsorship, and orbital residency rights.
